Learning Disability Services
The
Spelthorne Advocacy Service works in the local community in Spelthorne
supporting people who have a learning disability living in the borough.

The
service offers a professional one to one advocacy service to people who
meet the service’s eligibility criteria. The service also supports the
running of a local self-advocacy group with partner organisations.

The
aim of the service is to help people with learning disabilities to
develop their self-confidence and self-advocacy skills. It also aims to
support people to make informed choices and reduce the “different
treatment” some people with learning disabilities receive.
A
person with a learning disability can get a service once the service has
received a referral and looked at it. To get a service, a person must
meet the 'eligibility criteria'. The service will then see if they are
able to help.
To
be able to get assistance from the service, a person must have a learning
disability and be living in the local community in Spelthorne. |
