Dove Ward
A
21-bed ward for older persons (65 and over) from the catchment areas of
Brentford, Chiswick, Feltham, Hounslow and Isleworth in West London.
The
ward is an acute admission and assessment ward - it provides care for
people with known or suspected mental health (functional) problems that
need intensive care that cannot be provided in the community. It also
provides care for people with dementia (organic) and other degenerative
neurological disorders. Admissions can last a few days or many months
depending on many factors including the severity of illness and response
to medication. It is also not unusual, depending on the severity of the
illness and support needed, for people to be relocated to residential or
supported accommodation from this ward, or to spend a period of time at
Brentford Lodge for respite
The
ward has nursing staff on the ward 24 hours a day. In addition there are
doctors (psychiatrists), Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists,
Speech and Language Therapists, Social Workers, Psychologists and others
who are involved in providing treatment and care.
The
ward provides individual rooms for patients, with gender specific
toilets, showers and baths, together with communal areas, a conservatory
and a small garden.
