North Surrey Service User Involvement Project - Learning Disabilities
This is a project for people with a Learning Disability living in the
North Surrey region (Runnymede, Spelthorne & West Elmbridge) and is
funded by a Department of Health LDDF (Learning Disability Development
Fund).
Its primary aim is to build up truly representational service user
involvement in this area, so that service users are fully equipped to
become involved in directing and planning local service delivery.
This will be achieved in a number of stages:
The
rolling delivery of ten-week capacity building courses across the three
boroughs.
Graduates
from this course can then attend the Training for Trainers course, where
training is provided to allow individuals to develop the skills
necessary to deliver training courses themselves. This may be the
Capacity Course listed above, or a course of his or her own devising.
Setting
up of local Service User Forums in the three boroughs, with the aim that
service user representatives from each forum will attend the Valuing
People Team meeting for their locality, and will possess the training,
confidence and skills to truly put forward the service user perspective
on local service delivery.
